Sixpenny Wood wind farm work to commence

UK-based renewables company Your Energy has announced that work will start this month on its Sixpenny Wood wind farm at Howden near Hull.

REpower will be supplying ten MM92 turbines for the site, which will stand 125m from ground to blade tip and produce 2.05 MW of energy each.

All civil works and the main electrical installation will be carried out by Jones Bros, while Natural Power will be Your Energy's engineer on site.

Preparatory work will take place until October, when the turbines will be delivered and erected.

Bridget McNulty, project manager for Sixpenny Wood Wind Farm, said: "We are pleased that we will soon be starting work.

"The contractors we have chosen are very experienced and we are confident that they will meet our high standards throughout this construction period."

Once the farm enters operation in February next year, the ten turbines will generate enough electricity at full capacity to power the equivalent of around 11,500 average households, Your Energy says.
